PG 165 rehearsed on that Thursday afternoon for our Kuantan gig in two weeks time.
I guess the real party started when i got a msg on Friday morning frm Cosmic Funk Express's bassist Alda Tan..saying he'd be down in Melaka for a gig with Broken Scar on Saturday and if i'd be free to hang out...
Why not? I haven't really heard Broken Scar's music before...and I guess it must have been a big deal for me to meet this guys in person...

and now features Alda(frm CFE) as his bassist on the album and other sessionist that tour with him...

This fellas never tasted Satay Celup, Chicken Rice Balls or Cendol before...*GASP*...
Alda and Kevin were the earliest to arrive on Friday. So brought them to the Ong Kim Wee Satay Celup...it was described as exotic as they whacked the living daylights out of it...yum yum...i was a bit apprehensive that they'd dislike the food...but they were liking it a lot...
nothing like good food to act as a great ice breaker... Kevin's from Kajang...really nice guy...
Man, if i had long hair like that...Kevin and Alda rocking...
Their gig was in Mahkota Parade on Saturday evening and it was part of the Hitz.fm Hypez tour...they played on the foldable truck owned by Jason Lo...a lot of Music Canteen guys were around too...
For the record, i never saw Alex play rock before, since CFE was more feel and organic than raw energy...but i think i saw some rockers on the stage that night, Alex pounding and guitars resounding...yea, i dig Broken Scar man... you guys should gig in MMU....
After getting autographs and stuff...brought them to Jonker again to whack the cendol and laksa we missed the day before (sold out)...the place was packed and apparently had some live bands playin on d road..... and they were extremely fascinated wif the whole sight...
Kevin: Dude, this is a Pasar Malam like no other man...
Get their album...support the local music scene...
Their style of music....alternative...rock...feel....a mellower creed in the vocals....
Judging frm talking with him, Kevin wears his music on his sleeve...starting from a small time unplug songwriter...to now...
They invited me and Styne to chill at their rooms at Equtorial after the whole walkin around...not interested in the techno ah beng clubbing scene...
That's where they went crazy...apparently they bought boxes and boxes of pop pops frm Jonker...those little white fireworks that pops when u throw them...
Here we were, on the 14th floor, Broken Scar and a couple of MusicCanteen execs and 2 melakans... with a hand full of pop pops ...standing on the balcony(facing main road)...and waiting for the accursed Mat Rempits to ride by...
As a group of cyclist (pre Mat Rempits)...the bicycle gang rode by... we gleefully hurled down as many as we could upon them...with a 6 second delay to reach the ground... and rolled on the floor laughing as they got down frm their bikes to check what on earth was those popping sounds....
Not finding any satisfaction, they resolved to a pop pop war zone with black marks all over the hotel room...hahaha... one of the music canteen execs by the name of Justin(all Justins act this way? ) actually volunteeringly bent down to test and see how it felt popping on his ass...hahaha...hilarious jack ass moments....
We had fun making fun of Mawi and talking bout school and ghost stories and Thailand and food...hahaha... too bad i didn't take pics..Kevin has all of them....
and ended it with a early mornin Melaka Raya Char siew rice...
what impressed me the most was how down to earth these guys were....comin frm people who rub shoulders and played with or some even played for Jakeman, Dragon Red, Disagree, Naked Breed, One Buck Shot, Shelly Leong, CFE... etc,...and walking the Rock the World stage a few times.... and bothering to hang out with us... nice dudes...

Back From Melaka
Broken Scar just got back from Melaka! Melaka was a rockin
good time. Will post pictures and hopefully some videos as well as a report on
the show and the crazy things we did. Cheers to the wonderful Malaccans for
hanging out with us!
