MMU Talent Time

Have been wanting to blog the past few days but juz couldn't find the time to do so...coz many stuffs has been happening the past week.

The past two week saw a lot of SPARC events come knocking on my door.
Last Sunday, i had the oppurtunity to go the MMU Talent Time that was held with a lot of grandeur at the main hall. The place was pack with people...they should have provided more chairs man coz people had to stand at the back. Me and Justin found some chairs outside. Anyway, I was anticipating it because i heard last year's was fun.
The most outstandting presentations were the singing category. There was this three chinese guys who attempted to sing Maroon 5's "she will be loved" that sounded so out of tune that they were booed of the stage...and the lead singer's 'perasaan antics' made someone from the crowd give them the finger. i think they were just singing for the sake of it lar. But the winner, Putri Nurul was juz awesome...she looked the goody-two-shoes kinda girl with a head scarf and all...but when she sang...whoa, she sang Whitney Houston's "Nothing"...I think she sang better than some of the Malaysion Idol finalist...it ended with the hall giving her a standing ovation..the first and second runner up were also a showcase of good vocals. all girls won this category.

The dances were pretty cool also...the winner was a group of 6 guys called Unbreakable. They did a breakdance to the beat of some techno/hip hop...man, i think they got lotta muscle...with all the spinning and twisting and somersaults and headstands and stunts...well deserved. The first(various dance) and second runner(indian dance) up was cool too.

The bands were a mixture for me i guess...watching them play was interesting. Some of them played out of tune guitars and blasted thier volume like there was no knob to control. The band who won was Krumb...the guitarist is a friend of ours...congrats to him.

They invited a host of guest artists to perform thoughout the intervals...K Town Clan, KLG-squad, james baum....but the one i enjoyed most was the band One Buck Short who played a variety of punk and rock. the drummer just,,,,wow...i enjoyed their showmanship and the music the played...was definitely a level higher than the rest of the bands...awesome show by them...they showed that they enjoyed playing what they did...unlike Tempered Metal who had sour faces when i saw them during the BOTB...

Vijay made some contact with the guitarist and drummer...seems like among all the artistes, they were the nicest of people...and they played for free because we were students.

not bad...but i think SPARC is in trouble coz apparently there was booze and weed...and some parts of the show looked more like a rave party...

but it was fun lar.
