New Members of the Family

A few months ago, my bridge pick up was acting up and was giving me a pretty sissy-fied output. Looking back, I can't believe I have been allowing myself to gig with it.

Getting a new set of pick ups wasn't on the menu as i brought my guitar to JS music for Ng to check it out. I was expecting more of the routine wire job.

But as fate would have it, the verdict was given and no wire job could fix what was remaining of my old pick up.

So folks, introducing a new member of the family... the DIMARZIO EVOLUTION DP159 Bridge pick up.

The result of years of research for a very demanding player: Steve Vai.
The DiMarzio DP159 Evolution Bridge Pickup is a hefty humbucker designed for maximum impact and power. The Evolution pickup's sound is tight, aggressive, and loud.
The DP159 Evolution incorporates DiMarzio's patented dual-resonance coil
configuration that senses more harmonic overtones than ordinary humbuckers.
Perfect for solos that really cut through. Low notes are very tight, and the
highs have a lot of presence. DiMarzio designed the DP159 pickup for Steve's
Ibanez Jems, but it can add a lot of punch and definition to Les Pauls and
similar set-neck guitars - even the lowest bass notes really jump out of the
amp, and feedback occurs easily with a wide range of harmonic overtones.

It's endorsed by Steve Vai. And definitely gets the job done.
One of my criterias that led to this choice was its ability to slice through the melee of pounding drums and misc sounds to reach those high notes with crystal clear clarity. I'm no speed shredder but I employ various styles to my playing. This new addition definitely adds a bit more spice and taste to my tone.
Played it one on one with the band during the last jamming session...it stood up and kicked hard...

All my life i never owned a proper gigable accoustic guitar. Fell in love with her while trying out guitars for fun at the Curve, Damansara.

After that first encounter, i got lovesick and thought about her everday...the tone, the feel...gave me sleepless nights.

After browsing through countless reviews and opinions, the verdict was if i didn't seize the opportunity now...it would be never.

Still, I find she's pretty hard to tame.
