Selamat Hari Raya

It started off with an uncany, unexplainable feeling of warmth originating somewhere within.
Like stumbling upon the scent of hot coffee on a windy day...
...with the sound of gentle rain lightly hitting the zinc roof with a playful rythm invoking a thousand nostalgic memories.

I found myself wondering around in a typical Malay village with chickens running about and the evening sun hiding behind the cloudy sky. The sound of children's voices filled the air as they played without a care in the world.

Then I remembered how we visited our friend on the Raya of 2004 and had so much fun laughing and eating his mum's delicious cooking...and making fun of his kiddy pictures all around the house. It was a hot afternoon then. We got lost on our way to Rawang and ended up somewhere in Putrajaya, how silly of us. Hehe.
Before we left, our friend's dad told us to get him to study harder when we got back to Melaka. We dropped by Low Yatt on the way home under a slight drizzle.

Oh this was one of those days. My friend asked if I was going to visit him again this year. Why not, this was what friends did...we open our lives to each other.

Then I woke up ...

with that conversation with my friend. And realised he was gone. Cancer suddenly robbed him of life. It felt to surreal.
One moment we were doing lab assignment together.
9 months later I was visiting his grave.

Gonna miss him, especially during Raya.

Selamat Hari Raya to all my friends.
Love, don't hate.

Let's play our part to put an end to the racial tension in our country.
