It's been a while since my last update, my computer monitor just decided to fizzle out more than a month ago. I'm currently using a monitor so generously lent to me by Tze Wei.
Well, my band's EP is finally out and i'd like to thank all our friends who supported us with the purchase of our album. So far, the only major gig we did was in Kuantan's Higher Ground. We've yet to do a major gig in Melaka due to Vijay's mum having a stroke in August resulting in all of us not having the heart to jump around stage just yet. Thank you for all the prayers and support you've shown to Vijay in this challenging month. Let's keep him in prayer as his mum recovers through therapy and support.
But things are looking better as we're getting in touch with contacts from the local radio stations, hoping for a shot at a bigger audience. In the meantime, there's much paper work to be done with some partnership going on between us as our Co Producer at Purple Houz Studio. There's also word of some collaborations in the pipeline towards the end of this year. Deric's working on updating our website: http://www.pg165.com/ , so do stay in tune for gigs which i believe will be coming very soon. We've got a lot of plans in the pipeline. Sign up for facebook and join us =)
I'm also working on some new material, some edgier songs.
On a personal note, it's been a season of ups and downs. I just finished reading "The Pilgrimage" by Paulo Coelho, author of the famous "The Alchemist". Work has been pretty challenging, but i'm thanking God everyday for giving me the chance to where I am and constantly finding favour with my boss.
Church on the other hand has been tough. Some people can be so difficult...so judgemental and yet pretending to be so spiritual. Ending every sentence with a scripture yet not speaking anything encouraging through their lives.
I'm in a pretty pensive mood at the moment. If you've been following the news, Planet Shakers' bassist, Mike Gugglimucci, a youth pastor and prominent song writter who was diagnosed with cancer in 2006 shockingly admitted the whole 2 years of battling cancer was a lie. He in fact didn't have cancer but used it as a smokescreen to hide the other personal demons within his life that he was struggling with.
...
A couple of days before hearing this news, call it coincidental or not, I was lying on my bed tossing and turning. I felt like God was there and doing an audit on my life. Like He was checking all the things I had and had not done, such as owing certain people a much needed apology, correcting a much needed area in my life, etc. And all this with regards to what I loved doing:
Standing on stage with my guitar around my neck and singing about the change in my life and telling the whole world about it.
But I have asked myself many times, how real is that change? Or would i be just like another "Mike", writting and playing great songs, preaching and sharing great testimonies... but deep down in my gut knowing that it's all a farce.
I think that's a question all of us need to ask ourselves.
*pensive*
As for what happened to Pastor Mike, we should all take heart that what we ultimately need to guard, is our relationship with Jesus and not our man made reputations or human greatness. Life has its disappointments, but how we deal with it either makes us bitter or better. Be encouraged by this short video of Pastor Brian Houston of Hillsongs church with his word of encouragement.
