I remember a long time ago about someone, a preacher possibly; who said that the best authors of great books that you should subscribe to...are the ones who have already passed on.
This is because such authors have already left their legacy, they had finished the race, they had already returned to the greater Land. In contrary to those authors who are still alive who after writting great books...who may still falter and fall before they reach the finish line. Many people start off great, but are unable to finish the race...
So when Charis, the ultimate JAZZ chick writes such exhuberent testaments even when I'm still green (hello, i'm still young)...it's daunting. =) . When i reflect on myself, i seem to see only a pale reflection of my youthful energy. Along this gravel road the fire has been at times near extinguished, at times let loose into a roaring inferno.
It's difficult to live up to expectation and one's legacy while still alive. The race is still far from over, and the officials are still tallying the points and writting remarks while we toil on the track.
Thank you for remembering such frienship even from the days of our youth. Honestly it's been tough growing up and far from the smooth road. What you write really convicts me. Let us continue to spurn each other on with the metaphor that iron sharpens iron.
Thank you.
